004 - Feb. 28, 2009

My wife shot a wedding on Saturday and the bride got a big surprise when Bucky Badger jumped on the dance floor. Can you tell she is happy? It was a beautiful wedding.

Every other Friday night, I (attempt to) play Dungeons and Dragons with some family and friends. Who knew that rolling dice could be so satisfying.

I had a great birthday, but it was also a late night. I needed coffee to get the 26th started.

001

I love to start projects, but I'm not good with finishing them. My best advice is to enjoy this while it lasts. I don't guarantee that I'll finish, but I will attempt to do the best that I can.

What am I doing? Well, I read a lot of people doing a "photo-a-day" project. I'm not as talented as my wife when it comes to photography, but I'm not here to make art. I'm trying to condense my day into a photo. I didn't start this on January 1st, so the next logical jumping off point, would be my birthday.

Just a note, The photo will always be representing the previous day. So the photo below represents my birthday.
Amethyst and I had a great day yesterday. This pic is the aftermath of a good lunch.

Eagle Vs. Shark

"Horse"

"Damn"

I'm quoting from Eagle Vs. Shark, a 2007 film that I finally got around to watching. Like Napoleon Dynamite, you don't know anybody like the characters in Eagle Vs. Shark, but you do know slightly muted versions of them. Jarrod (played by Jemaine Clement of Flight of the Concords fame) is an exaggerated version of many people I've known through out the years. I have met people with traits like Lily (Loren Horsley), but not all in one person. The main characters are awkward, sad, and even pathetic (in the beginning of the film.) Watching these two find love is mostly uncomfortable, but after all the silliness, the movie is actually, dare I say, sweet.

I'm doing everything in my literal power to avoid comparing the movie Napoleon Dynamite, but I'm at a lose for other movies that made taken socially-challenged characters and made the viewers care about them. The comparison has to be made. The reason I was avoiding it though is because I don't want to sway people away who didn't like Napoleon Dynamite. Eagle Vs. Shark is a love story at its core and a beautiful one at that... in an ugly duckling kind of way.
